Welcome to my portfolio!

I'm thrilled to have you here. Before we explore my work, I invite you to start by experiencing a little animation I've created exclusively for this website.

To help franchise owners strengthen their business savvy, we launched a Financial 100 and 200 series built in collaboration with top financial pros from the QSR world. This custom learning path was all about boosting confidence with the numbers, giving owners the tools they need to manage their business with clarity, strategy, and impact.

  • The Challenge: Ensuring Franchisee Success
Franchise owners often face a steep learning curve, requiring the right knowledge, skills, and tools to effectively run their businesses. Without a structured and engaging training program aligned with business goals, franchisees risk underperformance, inefficiencies, and missed growth opportunities.

    Our Solution: Targeted, Hybrid Training
I developed a comprehensive training program designed to address these challenges. By combining interactive e-learning modules, live virtual sessions with industry experts, practical workbooks, and video tutorials, we deliver a flexible and results-driven learning experience. This ensures franchisees gain the confidence and skills needed to drive success, fostering growth and consistency across the organization.

  • The learning deliverables featured live virtual session assets, detailed training workbooks, business cases, scenarios, and e-learning modules focusing on business terminology, profitability management, and profit and loss analysis.

  • I developed training materials intentionally aligned with the business goals, structured to build knowledge step-by-step, and designed for a hybrid learning experience. These included interactive e-learning modules, live virtual training sessions led by industry experts in finance, practical workbooks, and video tutorials. By combining these elements, I ensured franchise owners received a cohesive and flexible training experience, helping them gain the knowledge and skills franchise owners needed to succeed.

This learning path guided franchise teams through the essential technology used in stores, while also introducing new tools designed to make running a franchise smoother and more connected.

  • The Challenge: Adapting to New Technology Across a Franchise System
Implementing new technology across a franchise network presents significant challenges, including resistance to change, varying levels of technical expertise, and the risk of disruptions to daily operations. Franchise employees needed to quickly learn and adopt new systems for customer service, point-of-sale (POS) integration, credits and refunds management, and store analytics without impacting business performance.

Our Solution: Strategic Learning for Smooth Technology Integration
To address these challenges, I developed a comprehensive suite of learning materials as part of a change management plan. These resources included interactive e-learning modules, job aids, step-by-step guides, and engaging video demonstrations. By providing clear, accessible, and practical training, we ensured the entire franchise network could adapt to the new technology seamlessly, minimizing disruptions and maximizing efficiency.

  • Technology Integration for Franchise System-

The learning materials were part of a significant change management plan to help the franchise system adapt to new technology and expand its capabilities. These updates affected everyone in the system and covered new ways to handle customer service, integrate point-of-sale (POS) systems, manage credits and refunds, and use store analytics and reporting tools.

We created various learning resources to smooth this transition, including e-learning modules, job aids, step-by-step guides, and video and animation demonstrations. The designed tools helped everyone get up to speed with the new systems and processes, ensuring a seamless shift across the franchise network.

  • Developed three different versions of the training materials tailored for distinct roles within the franchise system, ensuring each role received the specific information they needed.

Live Virtual Training

Malinda Petry, A woman with curly black hair wearing a bright yellow top, smiling, sitting in an indoor setting with shelves in the background.

I designed live virtual trainings that first covered essential topics, then broke down the fundamentals of the franchise system. Using platforms like Adobe Connect and Zoom, these sessions created space for participants in the QSR network to come together, share insights, ask questions, trade tips, and engage in real peer-to-peer learning.

  • The Challenge: Ensuring Consistency and Engagement in Live Virtual Training
Delivering effective live virtual training can be challenging, especially when ensuring consistency across multiple facilitators and keeping participants actively engaged. Without a well-structured curriculum and interactive elements, learners risk becoming passive recipients, leading to reduced retention and application of essential topics like operations, best practices, and brand standards.

Our Solution: Strategic and Interactive Instructional Design
To address this, I created a detailed PowerPoint deck to guide discussions, a facilitation guide to standardize delivery across guest facilitators, and a structured curriculum map to ensure systematic coverage of key topics. Using Adobe Connect, we fostered an interactive learning environment with real-time Q&A sessions, discussions, surveys, and peer-to-peer knowledge sharing, transforming learners into active contributors and enhancing the overall training experience.

  • The instructional design deliverables for the live virtual training included creating a detailed PowerPoint deck to guide the conversation. A facilitation guide provided opportunities for guest facilitators to remain consistent in practice. I also developed a structured curriculum map that covered essential topics such as operations, best practices, and brand standards, ensuring a systematic learning process.

My design approach fostered an interactive learning environment where participants were not just passive recipients, but active contributors. Through Adobe Connect, learners participated in real-time Q&A sessions, exchanged tips, discussed relevant issues, and responded to surveys, ensuring their active involvement in the learning process.

  • I developed these training materials with a focus on practicality, ensuring that each part of the training is not only comprehensive and engaging, but also immediately applicable to the participants' day-to-day operations.

By tailoring the content to their needs, I helped make the learning process interactive and relevant so they could quickly transfer their new skills and knowledge to their day-to-day operations.
